Post Operative Instructions For Minor Operations

You may take Panadol, Panadeine or Panadeine Forte for pain.  It is best to avoid Aspirin unless prescribed by your doctor.

The eye patch may be removed the morning following the operation.  Wash your hands and clean the area with cooled water (previously boiled) using a tissue, cotton bud, or cotton ball.  There may be some dried blood around the area.

Use the Chlorsig ointment twice a day until your next appointment.  Ointment will blur the vision especially when first applied.

Generally, a review appointment is required.

If you encounter any problems, please contact the surgery on 9982 4500.  If bleeding occurs apply firm pressure for five minutes.

If you have persistent pain or sudden change in your vision (other than blurring from the ointment), report this to the doctor immediately via the Surgery, the Hospital or the Sydney Eye Hospital.

If you have concerns or questions, please call.
